My Last Week of Internship in Indonesia: Unforgettable Memories

My last week in Indonesia flew by quickly and was filled with emotions. After a month of internship at PGRI Semarang University (UPGRIS) and SMP YSKI Kristen, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia as I had to say goodbye to the friends, teachers, and students I had the opportunity to work with.

It all began with a small performance at UPGRIS, where my fellow interns and I prepared a traditional cultural show to present to our teachers and friends. We practiced traditional performances from both Vietnam and Indonesia. I was very proud to showcase a Vietnamese folk dance, wearing traditional attire and sharing a part of my country’s culture with everyone. The support and encouragement we received from the people at UPGRIS were overwhelming. The applause and the smiles from the teachers and friends made me feel warm, as if we weren’t just visitors from another country but had become part of a big family here.

After the performance, I took one last tour of the classrooms with the other interns. The students and teachers gave us heartfelt goodbyes. The warm hugs and well-wishes from the students brought tears to my eyes. We shared laughs, talked about the memories we had built during our internship, and expressed our gratitude for the wonderful experiences we had here.

Mr. BD, my Physics instructor, also took some time to give me valuable advice before I left. He mentioned that not only had I learned technical knowledge but also lessons in communication, understanding, and integrating into other cultures. His words of wisdom will always be precious lessons I carry with me throughout my life.

Finally, before returning to Vietnam, I had an emotional farewell with my friends at UPGRIS and SMP YSKI Kristen. Although I was sad to leave my friendly teachers and classmates, I knew that I was taking back a treasure chest of beautiful memories and valuable lessons from Indonesia. These experiences will always be etched in my heart, and I hope to have the opportunity to return to continue exploring and learning more about this beautiful country.

This internship not only helped me grow professionally but also broadened my perspective on the intersection of cultures, the connections between people, and the valuable contributions each country brings to the world.
